The Deaf Academics have hosted three successful conferences, with a fourth currently planned for Dublin, Ireland in 2008. The first conference took place in Austin, Texas, USA in 2002 with approximately 30 participants. From this conference, the Deaf Academics organization, listserv and web site were born.
